Howard first saw Lord Weidenfeld being interviewed on the BBC’s Hard Talk and he thought to himself that he would really like to interview this dear man as he spoke such words of wisdom.
Low and behold, very soon after these thoughts, Howard received an invitation to interview Lord Weidenfeld and Howard jumped at the opportunity. Howard said that he thought it was an answer to an an-unsaid prayer?
Howard was absolutely delighted with the interview and feels that those who watch the full interview will also be pleased to have seen it and especially knowing it was probably the very last interview Lord Weidenfeld ever gave before he died a few weeks later. *George Weidenfeld, Lord Weidenfeld, who died aged 96, belonged to that remarkable group of Jewish refugees who transformed post war British publishing into an exciting, dynamic industry.
He was pre-eminent among his fellow publishers, both in the range of his interests and activism and in his capacity for international networking, building bridges across Europe and beyond. Most recently he launched the Weidenfeld Fund, which, among other things, has provided money to rescue embattled Christians from Syria.
