In this episode of Voices from Israel video series, Howard interviewed Professor Alex Carmel who at the time was a professor at Carmel University, Haifa, Israel.

Professor Alex shares about the last five hundred years of the history of the Middle East, when it was known as Palestine, and for the last 70 years, when the state of Israel became a reality.

He talks about the main players involved in the return of the Jews to Israel – people such as Theodore Hertz, William Hechler and the Church Mission to the Jews in the 19th century, as well as Lord Balfour in the 20th century.
