As long ago as 1984 the lyrics to this song were first penned, as the writer was so concerned about the state of the world, and particularly from an ecological perspective.

This one line taken from a verse might help to understand where the song is coming from: “Man has taken giant steps in technology but will he ever get it right with ecology, ozone layers and chemicals, pesticides and waste, to mention only but a few to show why mans in haste.” And another verse “The world awakens yet again to another day but does it recognise the signs afraid it doesn’t say, unless we change all our ways, no time for indecision, the Universe will look at Earth and hold us in derision.”

Note that in the 70’s the composer was first becoming aware of what mankind was doing to our environment, and that we were heading for an ecological disaster if we ignored the early signs, and please note this was 50 years ago and was not like today where there are now many voices shouting from the roof tops about ‘climate change’.

The writer, Howard Conder is now 76 years old and decided that Who’s Gonna Save The World needed a modern musical treatment, and began earlier this year after recovering from Covid-19, to work with a friend, George William Musulira, to re-compose the music. Along with other elements of the original track recordings from the early 80’s, and more recent recordings, they now have what we they calling the 2021 version of Who’s Gonna Save The World.

The timing of the release of this song could not be at a more fitting time as our World Leaders are realising at last that TIME IS RUNNING OUT for our planet and unless we “change our ways” as the lyrics state, we will suffer calamity.

We have never before faced so many diverse challenges across the whole world at the same time, and this track, especially the music video which accompanies it, certainly highlights most of these challenges.

The music is powerful just as the lyrics are, and both together we hope will inspire you as there is an amazing future for mankind and it does not rely on our world leaders to correct our dire situation, but for us to rely more on our creator, just as Bob Marley mentioned in his song “One Love”, for Bob was well aware of what we would face in the future if we ignore our creator. So “LET’S GET TOGETHER AND FEEL ALRIGHT”.

Man has never before had the ability to ruin our planet to the extent he has until the beginning of the industialisation age in Great Britain in 1760, and now we are warned by scientists across the world that we have very little time left to make radical changes if we are to survive the cataclysmic events which we are already beginning to experience such as climate change.

Ironically, in the last book of the bible in the book of Revelation chapter 11 verse 18, it does warn us that our creator would hold us accountable for destroying the earth which he entrusted to us to look after. This was foretold nearly 2,000 years ago along with what I would say is the most exciting promise ever made: “Look I am making all things New” There will be a New Earth, no need to go looking for another planet to live on.
