Howard Conder School Days
This entry is part 2 of 23 in the series Howard Conder's Life Stories

Howard moved to Darlington County Durham around the age of six.

When Howard moved to Darlington County Durham around the age of six, he started school at Reid Street Infantsand then moved to the Arthur Pease infant School and his final school years were spent at Gladstone Street School.

Being dyslexic, he did not fare well at school and according to his school report, he was absent for most of his four years between fifty and seventy days each year. photos of school reports and other photos relating to this period.

Ironically, Howard’s lack of education did not hinder his ability to succeed in life. He has worked hard and his understanding of using software in many aspects of his work has greatly increased his skill base. For most of his life, he has been able to earn significant sums of money. It’s worth noting that he was earning twice as much as his teachers were from the age of sixteen when he had his first job as a professional musician.

The following photos are taken from Howard’s Gladstone Street School report.

However, he did achieve good reports for both music and football and sports in general.
His final report made by his Headmaster was almost prophetic in certain aspects with regards to Howard’s character and prospects. (See photo of school report).
Howard’s ambitions were to either be a professional footballer or a professional musician and what followed in just a few months after leaving school at the age of fifteen, literally set the stage for the rest of his life.
