This latest series of Life Stories is presented by both Howard and Lesley who share about their time spent in Romania. They go back 34 years to when they were called by the Lord to change their direction from joining Mercy Ships full time to travelling thousands of miles to Romania shortly after the execution of Ceausescu, who had turned on his own people in a cruel and vicious manner, which eventually resulted in a Revolution.

After the demise of Ceausescu there was an opportunity to not only reach out to the dear people of Romania with aid but also for the first time in a generation there was a great opportunity to declare the Word of God across the nation. The Conders joined a team of evangelists from America called Harvest International. They were based in Arad where they had a large tent for teaching and evangelising to the local community, which then spread to Timisoara where Howard filmed some amazing scenes, as many repented and accepted Jesus Christ as their saviour. Scenes they had never witnessed before.

The videos are so moving and will reduce you to tears, as will many of the other outreaches they were called to when they visited hundreds of orphans and abandoned babies in dire need. Howard has over thirty hours of raw videos of their 5 months in Romania and plans to select at least 3 one hour shows from all his tapes. They are so inspirational, and the conditions that the Romanians lived under were very poor, but that didn’t stop them from seeing how they could do their utmost for their God and that was to serve the local church and bring aid and comfort to the Orphans and the abandoned babies.

Talking about abandoned babies, on one of the days that Lesley, Howard and their two young sons Luke and Joel went to visit the Arad Maternity Hospital, they came across a certain abandoned baby whom they moved heaven and earth to adopt. This aspect on its own turned out to be a real challenge, in that, for some unknown reason there seemed to be a reluctance on the side of both the Romanian and the British authorities to agree to the exact procedures for the British to adopt abandoned babies.
